a) Scholarship is available to an applicant who meets the following criteria:
• Is a full-time college student (undergraduate - 12 credits/semester, graduate - 9 credits/semester) who is currently enrolled in a college, community college, or university located in CT, MA, ME, NH, RI or VT in a two year, four year or a graduate program, and demonstrates a keen interest in pursuing a career in hydrographic surveying or related fields.
• High school senior who has applied for, and been accepted in a full-time U.S. college or university located in CT, MA, ME, NH, RI or VT with accreditation recognized by the U. S. Department of Education, and who also demonstrates a keen interest in pursuing a career in hydrographic surveying or related fields.
b) Applicants must be a citizen or permanent resident of the U.S.
c) Applications for scholarships are accepted between January 1 and March 31 for the subsequent academic year. (Jan 21, 2021: DEADLINE EXTENDED TO APRIL 30, 2021 DUE TO COVID-19 IMPACT).
d) Be a THSOA student member in good standing at time of award of scholarship.
e) Applications will be reviewed by THSOA-New England Chapter Education Committee.
f) Scholarship winners will be announced in mid-April.
g) The number of scholarships granted will be:
• 4 x $1,000
h) Selection will be based on a combination of academic performance, letters of recommendation, and answers documented in the application process.
i) Applicants cannot receive a National and regional (Chapter) scholarship in the same academic year.
