The Coastal Systems Program (CSP) at the School for Marine Science and TechnologyUniversity of Massachusetts Dartmouth seeks to fill summer 2026 internship positions to support ongoing coastal and estuarine research activities. These positions are designed for undergraduate students interested in gaining hands-on experience in applied marine and environmental science.

Interns will contribute to research areas including water quality and wastewater monitoring, oyster aquaculture, nutrient cycling, coastal ecosystems, and wetlands ecology. Field responsibilities will include assisting with nearshore and offshore sampling, supporting citizen-based environmental monitoring initiatives, and helping maintain long-term wetland experiments during the summer field season.

Laboratory and data tasks will include sample preparation and processing, data entry and organization, bottle washing, and assisting with basic analytical procedures. Interns will also help compile and finalize data products from summer research activities.

Successful candidates should be dependable, detail-oriented, and able to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a research team. Fieldwork may involve working outdoors in variable weather conditions and on boats in coastal environments.

Compensation: $18/hour (non-benefited position)
Duration: Summer 2026 semester (exact dates TBD)
