FREE Grant Opportunity! Diving into the Ocean Twilight Zone: Inspiring Creativity and Innovation Among Grades 6-12 Students. Applications due April 31, 2023.
Calling all STEM, CTE, and secondary school teachers! Are you and your students interested in ocean exploration, CSI-like identification of critical marine species, robotics, circuitry and programming, 3-D printing? Join the East Bay Educational Collaborative (EBEC) of Rhode Island, the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute (WHOI), and Scoutlier on our journey into theOcean Twilight Zone (OTZ) to inspire creativity and innovation among your grades 6-12 students. Using small robots with circuit boards, sensors (no tech experience needed) and a gamified, hands-on environment, students will encounter obstacles, power failures, and other problems regularly faced by real OTZ scientists and engineers. Students will meet these researchers via video, and can tour WHOI facilities in Woods Hole, MA to learn about cutting edge Ocean and Navy and related technology careers.
