The University of New Haven’s Department of Biology and Environmental Science is conducting a search for a combined Outreach Coordinator and Lab Manager at our new Marine Science Center at Canal Dock on the New Haven Harbor waterfront. The Canal Dock Marine Science facilities and community outreach coordinator oversees and coordinates the operation of the Marine Science Center at Canal Dock, supporting the activities of the faculty and students. The coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Marine Science facility including developing and facilitating community outreach activities, student supervision, management of resources and materials, maintenance of laboratory equipment, developing one’s own expertise, and supporting efforts in student recruitment such as Admissions events. The new Outreach Coordinator/Lab Manager will also play an important role in working with community and non-profit organizations through the department’s stewardship training program, Citizen Opportunities for Accessing Science Training on the Sound (COASTS): https://www.newhaven.edu/arts-sciences/undergraduate-programs/marine-environmental-sciences/coasts-program.php.
The successful applicant can expect to have a meaningful impact on the New Haven community by developing outreach programs with faculty that provide much needed access and connection to the Harbor and Long Island Sound.
