Write-in for CT Senate

Connecticut. He raised $5 million to spend on the campaign - 38 times
the amount that his Republican opponent Gerald Labriola. Few people,
even Republicans, see Labriola as a serious opponent.
However, I find it very difficult to vote for Leiberman. He supported
both the Helms anti-gay amendment to the Federal Education Bill and a
continuation of the ban on gays in the military. He has been quoted as
saying that he feels that homosexuality is wrong. I cannot in good
conscience vote for a candidate (especially a Democratic one) who claims
to represent all the people of Connecticut, yet is willing to see a
sizable fraction of them discriminated against.
Although Labriola condemned Leiberman's support for the Helms amendment
as being horribly insensitive to the plight of gay teens, his own voting
record in the State Legislature has been anti-gay.
Next Tuesday I plan to vote for neither Leiberman nor Labriola. Instead,
I will write in the name of former State Representative (and openly gay
man) Joe Grabarz.
In the November 6 issue of the newspaper "IN Newsweekly" Grabarz is
quoted as saying "I am so disappointed with our choices for senator.
Word has gone out that people are going to write in my name. If people
want to do it, I can't publicize it. But I can tell you, I am writing in
my name for US Senator."
Joe Lieberman will no doubt continue to represent Connecticut in the US
Senate for another six years. However, every write-in vote for Grabarz
will send Lieberman the message that he is under an obligation to
represent *every* Connecticut resident, even the gay ones.
I urge all registered CT voters who are dissatisfied with Lieberman's
homophobic record to write-in Joe Grabarz for US Senate on Tuesday.
