The American Cancer Society is the nation's largest non-government
supporter of breast cancer research. In 1999, $36 million was awarded
nationally and $2.1 million went to support research in Boston hospitals
and universities. The $12.5 million raised in Boston since the
inception of "Making Strides Against Breast Cancer" has helped support
the American Cancer Society's research, education, and support programs.

Sampou's first Rounder release, "Fall from Grace" (1996) charted in the
Top 20 Americana charts nationwide and two of the songs on this
collection earned her the prestigious "Kerrville Songwriting Award."
Her latest CD, "Les Sampou" (1999) has also garnered high praise.
SONGWRITER'S MONTHLY, NYC: "This album just can't seem to stay out of
the CD player. It's one of those that you just can't get enough of.
Sampou is one of the best lyricists to be found in this era of the
singer/songwriter. She has a mastery that many accomplished writers can
only marvel at and possibly secretly envy. A simple, conversational
tone that is brilliantly constructed. Simply put, this is the best work
of her career and a must have album..."
PATRIOT LEDGER, BOSTON: "Discerning music fans hearing Les Sampou for
the first time might wonder why her albums aren't selling in the
millions. Few of today's top songwriters produce more compelling or
distinctive music than Sampou."
