The Cape Cod & Islands Chapter of the Blue Knights International Law
Enforcement Motorcycle Club (MA VI, http://blueknights.org/ma6) announces
that its 32nd Annual Blessing of the Bikes will be held on Sunday, May 4,
2008. Information and updates will be broadcast on PIXY 103 FM Radio. The
Blessing will again be held at West Dennis Beach, with the gate opening at
9:30 AM. The on-site, in-place Blessing will occur at Noon, so bikes must
plan on being there, registered and parked by 11:45 AM. The participation
donation is $5.00, with proceeds going to the Blue Knights to be used for
charitable purposes; such as Cape Cod Community College Scholarships, Cape
Cod Times Needy Fund and Blue Knights COPSRUN (assisting surviving family
members of law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty).
Refreshments will be available for purchase at the snack bar and numerous
vendors set up stands and tables. In past years, up to 1,500 motorcycles
traveled from every State in New England to be a part of the Blessing, with
an estimated 2,000-2,250 people in attendance.

Directions to the Blessing and Start of Poker Run: Take Route 6 East to
Exit 9A and bear right onto Route 134 South. For a scenic ride take Route
6A to Route 134 South in East Dennis and continue until you pass Route 6.
Continue 2 miles to the Route 28 traffic lights, then cross Route 28 onto
Swan River Road. At the end of Swan River Road, take a right onto Lower
County Road and about ž of a mile later take a left onto Lighthouse Road.
When you enter the small rotary circle, the Beach entrance is halfway
around on the other side of the circle. This entrance will be for
motorcycles only; cars should continue around the circle and enter the
parking lot on your right, to the left of the snack bar.

The Blue Knights International Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club was formed in
the Spring of 1974 in Bangor, Maine, with the MA VI Chapter being formed at
the start of 1976. There are presently over 20,000 members in 601 Chapters
located in 24 countries around the world; and in the past 17 years alone
the Blue Knights have donated approximately $5.3 million in cash, $571,831
in goods, and over 164,980 work hours, for a total worth of over $9.2
million, to more than 1,700 charities, including Concerns Of Police
Survivors (COPS), Cystic Fibrosis, Drug Abuse Resistance Education (DARE),
Make-A-Wish, Toys For Tots and many other worthy local charities.
