Thank the EPA. This is the Politically Correct jetting.

If the carbs have tapered needles, an improvement can be made by
shimming them in the slides with thin washers. Go one washer at a time
until it's where you want it. That's the cheap and easy quick fix, which,
while not optimal, may be a mild improvement. It will impact gas mileage,
though.

If it still isn't good enough, then you have to play with jetting and
mixture screws.

I done gots a question about the CBR600 breed.

I bought a 1992 CBRF2 in the summer of 93. The bike had virtually
no miles on it (4 - but thats another story). After a bit of trouble
getting it started (sat for a while), the bike runs pretty good in
most situations. But it seems to run a little rough when trying
to maintain a constant speed. Under aggressive acceleration, the
power curve seems quite smooth, but if I am riding the bike calmly
adding power slowly, it seems to have uneven or jumpy power.

For example, when negotiating a series of turns where I
back off on the throttle just enough to coast into a turn, then
just give it enough to mildly accellerate out of the turn,
I experience a kind of "cough" in power. Specifically, the power
starts to come on, chokes for a millisecond, then resumes.

Once past this spot, power is great. Also, this seems to happen more
when the bike is hot.

Needless to say, this is not really what you want when trying to
smoothly or aggressively negotiate turns. I realize the CBR motor
is pretty high performance, thus it may not run the best at all
RPM.

So my question is this: is this just the way CBR's are, or do I have
something out of tune?
