Bluefin designs, manufactures and operates Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs). Bluefin's AUVs are small robotic submarines that autonomously gather data and carry out tasks in the open ocean. Gathering data in the ocean with AUVs will increase our understanding of this fascinating part of our planet, enabling us to manage rather than exploit this global resource. Bluefin has been profitable and growing rapidly every year since its founding in 1997.

DESCRIPTION: We are seeking an individual to qualify as an autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) operator and take on the principal responsibilities of supporting, troubleshooting and repairing all electrical and electronic systems of our AUVs during operations at sea. The successful candidate should possess a MS in electrical engineering or equivalent work experience - a BS and 5 years experience, or an associate's degree and 10 years field experience in a related field acceptable. Knowledgeable in digital and analog circuits, proficient component level troubleshooting skills, excellent soldering capabilities and a thorough knowledge of computers and MS Windows and LINUX operating systems. Some programming experience in C/C++ and knowledge of underwater navigation systems, battery systems or underwater vehicle operations is a plus. The applicant must possess, or be capable of obtaining, a 100-ton Masters License and Massachusetts state crane operator's license. Must be willing to spend up to 7 months a year at sea or traveling extensively.
This position is based in Quincy.
