Just connected up. Went with the ethernet instead of USB. I would have used
USB but after the last discussion here about this most seem to favor the
ethernet. Was cheap enough anyway. Also installed Norton Firewall. Is it
normal for dsl to just stop and go? Goes fast when it runs, then seems to
stall until it is ready to go again or whatever it does. Just was wondering.
I also have Norton virus. Are those enough to keep my computer fairly safe?
DSL seems to be a bit of a memory hog on my computer. I imagine this must be
normal too. I had tried to get RCN or Comcast but had no luck getting
either one of them to show up so went with Verizon instead. Thanks.

I expect you are using PPPoE. From the Navas Group page:

If you buy a cheap Cable/DSL router/switch for $50 or $75 you won't need
the PPPoE software on your computer, so less memory will be used. Or,
for about the same money, you could add 512 MB to your computer.

You might get better answers on comp.dcom.xdsl
or at <http://www.dslreports.com/>
or at the Navas Group page <http://cable-dsl.home.att.net/> .
