Anybody have any info on 110.net? I know they're cheap (I've been using
them for 3 months) but here's the problem. We signed my mom up at the end
of Dec, received the welcome kit and then...nothing. Account was never
activated. We've sent numerous emails but get no response. Most of the info
they gave Internic...phone # & email contact...is bogus. Same with Better
Business Bureau. I've yet to try out their addresses but will this week.
Any info a help.
Thanks

You probably don't want to hear that their news server is often down, posts
are disposed of after 6 to 12 hours and email tech support is often slow (or
never) replies. I've also been having problems recently connecting. The
modem negotiate, I get the first "Verifying username and password" and then
I get an "Unable to establish connection" message. This began about
mid-December.

I am willing to accept all this because it is very inexpensive.

By the way, a friend of mine that uses Galaxy says he still has NNTP.

Quite servicable the last two days. Download speeds aren't as high as
a local source, but still adequate.

If you want to email me, try jbf at frazer dot com.

I tried to subscribe to 110.net service. Did the on-line stuff
on 4-Jan-1999. Sent them a check for 6 months service the next day.
Then I waited and waited and waited. Sent them email on the 11th or 12th.
No response. Sent them more email on the 18th. Tried to call them
at (617)204-2830 many many times. Constant busy signal.

I noticed that their on-line status according to their web page
hasn't been updated since 30-Dec-1998.

Stopped payment on the check today, 19-Jan-1999.
It cost me $20.00 to stop payment on the check.

Sure saved a lot of money by using 110.net.

Respectfully,
Kay R. Fisher

They were owned by OEM.NET and since actual crew who ran OEM and 110 has
left since December, I guess both of them are suffering big time!

Well I was getting worried there for a while when I read other people
post that they'd sent money to 110.Net and then couldn't contact them,
and never got their account activated. But 110.Net just emailed me
saying that my new customer kit (or something like that) was mailed out
this past weekend. They mentioned something about new accounts being
delayed due to a server upgrade? If that's true, I should receive it
tomorrow at the latest. I think it's a good sign (at least) that my
email was answered within a few hours. We'll see what happens . .

Well maybe I spoke too soon. After getting email that my new customer
kit had been mailed out this past weekend (From Boston supposedly, about
60 miles from where I live), I have not received it as of this
afternoon. Snail mail is slow, but not usually THAT slow. I emailed
110.Net yesterday to ask them for my user name/password, and sent my
home phone number to them in case they wouldn't feel comfortable
emailing me that information. Again, haven't heard from them. Is
110.Net an ISP still? I've never had this much trouble just setting up
a new account. I told them straight out that I don't need any software,
and that my usenet and email is handled by other providers so all I
really need (for now) is the user name/password so I can establish a
dial-up connection. Still waiting, well over a week now. Haven't
called the bank yet, but I'm willing to bet my check has been cashed
already. :( They make you pay three months in advance. At this rate,
I'll have another bill due before I even get my password! -Dave
