I used to watch St. Elsewhere also. However, when I checked on the
issue of the location of the 'hospital,' I seem to recall finding out
that it was actually an apartment building with a fake ficade for the
show. Sorry, but I don't remember where the building was/is.

St Elsewhere is currently showing on Nick At Nite's TV Land. I've watched
it a bit ... in the opening credits you see the old elevated Orange Line
running down one side of the building. That must mean the building is
directly off of Washington Street. Also in some shots, you see the Pru &
Hancock, and they're not that far away. I'd hypothesize that it isn't too
much further out than Ruggles Street.

The building faces Franklin Square, a park on Washington Street
in the South End (not Roxbury). I believe it's on East Newton Street.

Again: its at 11 East Newton Street and no fake facade was used. The
closeup scenes of the outside were shot in Hollywood - as were all the
interiors.

: There's also St. Elizabeth hospital in Brighton (a neighborhood several
: miles west northwest of the South End), however, my recollection is
: that there were never any parallels drawn between the two St. E's.
Actually, St. Elizabeth's first began on West Brookline Street,
diagonally across the parks (Blackstoe & Franklin Squares) from the
"St. Eligius" - on the site where the basketball court is in the yard of
the Blackstone School.

Saint Elsewhere facade is situated in the South End a few blocks up from
Holy Cross Cathedral . it was filmed while the old Elevated train Orange line
still ran down the middle of washington Street.
St. Elsewhere I believe is teh Franklin Square House just South of the
Square itself.
Sorry I haven't more
