So I was in the immediate area of Hmart today and decided to swing by
and take a look. It was much better, but still quite busy. I was able
to drive to the actual lot, but was instructed to park in the back.
I saw several cars slowly moving that way and decided I didn't really
need anything, so I'll try another time.

Its getting better, maybe weekdays are best. Has anyone tried to go
lately?

we intend to go this week on a weekday about 2pm or so. after the lunch
rush and before the after work rush. more to explore it in some detail
without the chaos than for a shopping trip but we may buy a few
things. on our tour we didn't spend any real time anywhere since it was
so insane. i want to really see prices and quality on produce, seafood
and some other things.

Someone elsewhere suggested Sunday mornings, when folks might be
in church.

Went there yesterday (Monday) @11:30. Parking lot crowded but there
were spaces. Food court not busy - we even got a table! Even by
12:30 or so there were a couple of tables free.

I poked around H-Mart mid-afternoon today. The outer parking lot was about
1/3 empty so parking was not a problem. The store was busy but not crowded.
I thought more people were doing serious shopping (large orders) than when
we went with Walter. Since it was not meal time, the food court was not
busy except for the bakery. There were three sample stations working:
grilled meat (pork?), stir fried seafood and tofu, and chocolate drink
samples.

It would be great to go back with Walter now and have a better chance to
learn about all those things I don't recognize, <g>

For those who didn't see it, there was a feature article on H-Mart in
today's Globe "g" section. You can see it at http://tinyurl.com/yzgyttm .
This Globe site includes an interesting video of the H-Mart grand opening.

The header of the article is
'You'd think I was in Korea'
Restaurateur Jae Chung takes us inside H Mart, the enormous new Korean
megamart, for a cooking lesson like no other....

x-no-archive: yes

Reliable Market in Union Square has them.

Go to the seafood section of the market. At the entrance to the
section,
turn left. You will find pre-packaged bibimbap ingredients sans rice
on the lower counters

Hope this helps.
