Moving to Newburyport next week from Andover and wondered if anyone
knowledgeable about the Port restaurant scene could give us advice.
Breakfast, lunch, and dinner recom. would be a great help.
We are familiar with Joseph's Winter Street Cafe, Scandia, and Michael's
but not too much else.
Thanks to all who post.

For breakfast a friend really likes Kathy Anns on Water St.
We prefer Kathy's Country Kitchen on route 1 just north of route 133 -
stuff like raspberry cornmeal pancakes - special pancakes are $1.50 each,
the orange scones are wonderful (albeit sweet).
I also like the bagels at Abrahams. There's supposed to be a good
breakfast lunch place on Plum Island but we haven't made it there yet.

For lunch I usually hit Teabury's on State St, the little restaurant
2 doors in on Pleasant St (it's been there forever I just can't remember
the name), Leo's sub shop on the route 1 rotary, or the other sub shop
on the rotary.

For dinner our favorite alternates between Scandia and Glenn's Galley.
Glenn's has some eclectic selections - our dessert favorite was a Lemon
Thai Mousse. Glenn's makes wide use of peppers, the habenero barbeque sauce
is tasty and not all that hot. For quicker more casual meals we go to
Ciro's (usually busy), the Grog, the bar at 10 center street, or Jacob
Marleys (pub food).

And finally to tie back to the fishmonger thread - Davids Fishmarket in
Salisbury has some of the best seafood I've been able to find locally.

Jacob Marley's is quite a bit better than your average "pub food." I was
there this past Sunday night.. had a grilled Marlin steak with apricot
mustard and chambord sauce... delicious... they had a lot of interesting
specials on the board... as well as some innovative stuff on the menu...
My wife is still raving about the homemade cream of broccoli soup... and
I really enjoyed the homemade key lime pie... best I've had since I left
Florida!

The best keylime pie I've ever had is at Magnolia's in Inman Square,
Cambridge. I always say that "it goes directly to the pleasure center
in my brain."
