Hey NERds-

This isn't yet posted on the NER website or even the RUSA calendar but we've scheduled a 100km pop (all paved) and informal gathering afterwards for October 26th. This will also serve as our annual NER Member's Meeting.

The ride is using the "Trails of Groton" route which is rolling 65 mile loop out to Groton and Littleton Massachusetts and back. It's a straightforward route that uses quiet roads around the western Boston suburbs -- a nice way to get another RUSA ride in before it starts getting really cold. The ride will start at 7am (tentatively) from Emily and my house in Medford, MA.

When you return there will be veggie chili and other snacks. Stick around and chat with other riders about 2024 and the upcoming 2025 season!

At 3pm we'll have our formal NER Member's Meeting. This annual meeting is required by NER's Bylaws and while it's specifically for NER members, it's open to everyone to attend. This is an opportunity for NER members to formally bringing up any organization topics on their mind. There is currently no agenda and the meeting has traditionally lasted about 2 minutes; long enough to thank people for coming, invite discussion, and to adjourn. At that point it's back to socializing.

More details soon but we wanted to announce it ASAP for those making their mid-autumn plans.

Cool. Will lights be needed at 7am? Reflective vest? Does anyone know if a pink Rapha gilet meets the NER standards? It has a reflective stripe across it.

Is there parking in Medford?

I'll update the NER site tonight or tomorrow. But yes to free on-street parking and no to the requirement of a reflective vest.

Hi NERds. Registration is open for ride, party, and Members Meeting this weekend:

http://reg.jkassen.org/reg.php?eid=16866

This is a new registration system, very much a work in progress. If you have a problem, please let me know. The registration is only for people who wish to ride. If you are just coming to the Member's meeting, please email me so I know to get enough food.

Details on the route, parking, etc can be found here:

https://ner.bike/nersite/?p=4688

See you Saturday!

Jake

I'm sorry for everyone who can't make it and I hope to see you on another event next year. We have a good schedule in the works and I'm particularity looking forward to the new dirt brevets. (Schedule on those is still TBA.)

I'm not going to send out a registered rider email tonight but the route should be fine. If you want a cue sheet, please print one our yourself from the RWGPS link on the NER Website. I'll print you one if needed but you might need to wait until the other riders have headed off.

I've cooked up some vegan chili for when riders return and we'll have some non-vegan banana bread at the start if you want a quick bite.

The Members Meeting is formally at 3pm but we might hold the meeting earlier a quorum of NER Members registered for the ride have finished and would like to start early.

See you at 7:30am tomorrow!

A most enjoyable day of riding and socializing, and also eating! Thanks to Jake and Emily for hosting.
