Hello everyone
It is a repeat of the "Bikes and Dikes 200k'' first run last year This is a fairly flat 200k by NER standards with only 4000 feet of climbing. What RI and SE Massachusetts lack in height we usually make up for with steady South West breezes coming in from the ocean. The forecast for Saturday is looking nice
A short summary of this ride is that you leave Providence via the East Bay Bike Path on Narragansett sound, followed by an inland crossing to the the Taunton River. A short ride through Fall River brings you to the President Ave Hill, which is memorable. We then head through the Watuppa Reservation with its dirt roads. The potholes are deep here, avoid them. It's a nice "gravel". interlude
Once we leave the woods we head thru farmland to the coast in Westport. If you look at the Audubon control at mile 51 you can see Whale Vertebrae. The next section is through Dartmouth, Padananarm (Home of Scuttlebutt) and then along the tops of the Hurricane Dikes in New Bedford.
We then continue through the towns of Fairhaven and Mattapoisett, before we head back to Providence via an inland route
See you Saturday morning
