Hey NERds. Two quick things about this mailing list-
Someone recently tried to post a for-sale listing which I'm pretty sure was a scam. It was blocked before it went out but in general, I would advise against sending money to anyone who isn't going to meet in person to do the exchange. And don't send money in advance.
The way this list is configured is that new members need to be approved and the first few postings also need to be moderated. We basically approve everyone and every message that isn't outright a scam. However, Google Groups doesn't send a notice that a new member is waiting to join so it could be a few weeks before it's noticed that someone is waiting. Feel free to send me a direct email (jake kassen at gmail) to remind of your desire to be added to the list.
Reading the tea leaves it seems Google Groups is slated for the chopping block in the not-too-distant future but we'll wait until that announcement to find a replacement. IMHO, I prefer this over anything that requires a dedicated app like Slack. My hunch is that we'd switch to a forum on https://ner.bike so no login would be needed to read postings as is the case here.
OK, back to discussion about bikes and randonneuring. :) Hopefully we'll find the time for a 100k pop & party before the year is over.
