Hey NERds. It isn't critical but I'd take another volunteer for the upcoming 200k & 300k on May 10th. One advantage of volunteering is that you can pre-ride on any date of your choosing up to 2 weeks before the event. That means you can pick a day with nice weather instead of riding in the rain.
And here's a plug for the ride even if you can't volunteer: The 300k is using the "Ware's the Quabbin" route which is about as rural as you can get while staying on paved roads in central MA. The route goes to Hardwick, Enfeild, Holland, and Halifax among other destinations. It's hilly but none of the roads are overly steep or long. Unlike the Fifty Barns 300k, you go down the hill to Tully Dam instead of up.
The 200k skips the submerged village and beelines from Hardwick to Rutland using some new roads.
Our customary control of Tweedo's in Ashburnham is now closed when riders will be passing through but thanks to Bill we'll have a water stop. The 200k starts at 6am so that riders have a good chance of making it to Hardwick before the cafe closes. (The 300k starts at 5am as to not waste daylight.)
The NER Website has more info and registration links.
