OccuCar Working Group

Hello to all who receive this email!

My name is Kyle. You may, or may not, have heard about my current project, the OccuCar. 

I am looking at attempting to start a Working Group to develop this idea further, and to begin the assembly stage of the project. 

I am looking for a group of dedicated individuals to help form a working group to make this project a reality. 

Specifically, I am looking for someone from Media, Outreach, Action, and Finances. Technical knowledge is a plus. 

Synopsis of the OccuCar idea:

Creation of a Mobile Occupy Media Hub and Action/Outreach Tool using my own car, a 2011 Nissan Versa Hatchback, and accessories purchased/donated. Dubbed OccuCar.

o         To capture a near 360* field of view of actions, events, and meetings.

o   This will provide the world with better media coverage of actions and events, and possibly help to keep the peace on the front lines of actions.

o         To be used as an Outreach tool or transportation to those when needed

      To be used as a March Guide/Scout/Chant leader etc etc

      Equipment Needed:

o         Wireless Rotating Webcam (2)

o   For streaming directly to Live Stream

o        Solid recording window-mounted HD Camera (4)

o   For recording actions/events for later review and consideration.

o       Wireless magnet mounted hailer w/ CB Controller (1 or 2)

o   For chants, Announcements, mobile PA System, music, etc

o       Projector w/ HDMI Plug-in

o   For BATSIGNAL, Possible flashmob of movies, Minutes of meetings, announcements, etc

o       Vinyls/Decals

o   For Occupy visibility, Moral booster, and free “Advertising” (For lack of a better word). Conversation starter and ice breaker

Enclosed in this email you will find a .doc attachment explaining and outlining the project, from equipment to intent.

Yes I agree we should. I will be at the Movement Building Meeting tonight at St. Francis to try and gather more people for the working group, and will try and have a set meeting time by Tomorrow afternoon, after I figure out my work and and other peoples schedules

Hey Kyle! I'm down to help out with this project. What I think would be really cool/ funny, would be use the OccuCar to livecat our own "News" channel. So we roll up on a scene like KATU or FOX and report with the same style and sensationalism that the media reports on murders and robberies, but we would only report on stories of people helping each other, or doing what it takes to get by and feed their kids, or being generally nice, excellent people. Just a thought. Anyway, I've got an HDMI projector we can use until we find a permanent one (it's basically my TV, but we can use it for events) and I've also got a 2000 watt Power inverter and giant battery bank. Can't donate permanently, but we can definitely work with this stuff to get off the ground. I also have a workshop and driveway we could work in.

I think the OccuCar would be an awesome project platform to do something awesome on June 21st. Interested? I'm out of town at the moment but I'll be back this weekend if you want to meet in person.

  I was wondering  why I haven't heard from you. I guess I forgot you were out of town. Im glad to hear from you.
  I invited Kyle to bring his car idea to the CCC where we can make the best coordinated effort in making the car magicly productive. We in CCC really need to have a shared project that brings us together. And this car would be ideal.
I can't wait for your return bcuz the time is right to develop the foundations of a garden/food/sustainability project. I've been talking to some people and I think its time to get peeps together to work on direct actions.

Sam, thank you so much for offering the use of your projector. That will cut a massive expense out of what is needed to make this happen, even if it is just on an as needed basis :-) when i get the chance (when Im not at work) i will add you to the I
Google group and to the opdxga working group.
Shiva, again thank you for the invite to the CCC. I will try my hardest to make it to the next meeting, though it is hard for me to make meetings before 7 most days. I hope to be working closely with both of you soon :-)

I had the same idea for essentially "flashmobbing movies around town. I like it. If you can supply the ammo i can supply the delivery system, so to speak XD
