Good afternoon,

We are having issues with syncing our POS terminals with IC this school year. Some machines are running and syncing fine. Others are not. It seems that transactions made on these machines are making there way to IC but new data like online deposits into accounts and newly enrolled students are not making it from IC to the POS systems.

Is anyone else having issues like this?

Many of our POS terminals are stored in the kitchen in the evenings and then rolled out to the cafeteria for serving periods. During serving they may or may not be plugged in directly to the internet and may be running on the Wifi. Does this make a difference or cause issues when moving back and forth? We have been doing it like this for years so I don't know why it would matter now.

Any thoughts?

Hi Christy,
Have you updated them to the latest version?  This can cause a lot of issues, or at least it did for us last year until I got them all updated.

Take care,
Barb

Hmmmmm, not sure.  How old are the machines?  Did you update your school's new URL from campus?

Wasn't that just for the non-Cloud Choice schools at this point?

Hey Christy,

Have you verified the terminal is “online” in the Terminal Manager. If it is, then have the administrator of that POS terminal issue a full data reload.  Once the reload is complete, then see if a newly enrolled student can be located on the POS PC terminal.  Are you on PCs or POS Terminals?  We describe our PCs as “terminals”.

I have done all of these things but right now only 4 of the 16 terminals say "online". Do they have to leave the PC on and have the POS log in up for it to get the updates overnight?

On this screen?

When the terminal is “online” that means it is talking to the network and is not operating as a “stand-alone” device. You will want to check that the network cables are good (no frayed wires, no exposed wiring, check for bad wall ports, no excessive bending of the network cable, etc.)  We have one building that seems to destroy their network cable every spring/summer. Once you can verify that the PC is “online”, then have the administrator log into that POS PC and issue a full data reload.  This step ensures that the latest and greatest data is uploaded.  Have the admin log out, then have the cashier log into the POS PC and search for a newly enrolled student.

Yes, we have done all of those things. I will put in a ticket.

Thank you for verifying that I am doing everything right.
