West Fargo Police and Fire Departments initiate precautionary water rescue Wednesday, April 1
|

(West Fargo, N.D. – April 2, 2026) – At approximately 10:17 p.m. on Wednesday, April 1, the West Fargo Police Department responded to reports of an individual standing on the bridge near the 2400 block of Sheyenne Street. West Fargo Police Department Officers were on scene within two minutes of the call for service and did not observe any signs of a person on the bridge or in the water. At approximately 10:25 p.m., the West Fargo Fire Department responded to assist with the call for service. As a precautionary measure, crews began searching the Sheyenne River and its surrounding riverbanks using rescue boats, the Drone Unit and a K-9 Unit. After approximately two hours of search efforts by first responders, the water rescue was called off after finding no indications of an individual in the water. No missing persons reports have been filed and no individual has been located at this time. This remains an open and ongoing investigation with the West Fargo Police Department. The West Fargo Police and Fire Departments were assisted by Valley Water Rescue, Sanford Ambulance, West Fargo Rural Fire Department and Southern Valley Fire & Rescue. |
