The City of Fargo Announces Student Winners of “Mayor for a Day” Essay Contest

The winners will tour City Hall and read their essays at the City Commission meeting on Monday, June 24

 

FARGO, NORTH DAKOTA – The City of Fargo held an essay contest for third and fifth graders in Fargo Public Schools, asking them to answer the question: What would you do if you were mayor for a day?

 

Mayor Dr. Tim Mahoney selected students Nathan Asdedom and Alex Zhao as the contest winners. Nathan recently finished fifth grade at Kennedy Elementary, and Alex recently completed third grade at Longfellow Elementary. Their winning essays can be found here. Essays were judged based on their originality, content, grammar and structure.

 

Nathan, Alex and their families will meet Mayor Mahoney and tour City Hall on Monday afternoon, June 24. The two students will read their essays during the City Commission meeting that begins at 5 p.m. on Monday.
