Fargo Public Library to Host Archaeology Event for Kids on Thursday, June 25

The event is open to all ages and will be held at the downtown Main Library

FARGO, NORTH DAKOTA – What can a stone circle on the prairie or the foundation of an old building tell us? Join archaeologist Amanda Baker at the downtown Main Library on Thursday, June 25, starting at 2 p.m. to unearth clues from the past and discover how these clues become stories about the people who once lived. Kids of all ages are invited to attend this free, hands-on session, and no registration is required. For further details, contact the Children’s Services Department at 701.241.1495 or ki...@fargolibrary.org.

Amanda Baker holds bachelor's degrees in anthropology and Mediterranean archaeology from Emory University and a master's degree in archaeology from the University of Cambridge. She is the author of the children's book, "Can YOU Dig It?: Archaeology Lost and Found in the Sands of Time," and currently works for Beaver Creek Archaeology and Environmental. Baker’s book will be available for purchase following the presentation.

This event is part of the Fargo Public Library’s free 2026 Summer Reading Challenge that runs through August 15. This all-ages program offers a summer filled with stories, weekly special events, and activities for kids, teens and adults. Anyone can participate by reading, attending events and completing challenges. The Fargo Public Library’s Summer Reading Challenge is sponsored in part by the Friends of the Fargo Public Library.

All Fargo Public Library events are free and open to the public. Adults must accompany children ages 9 and younger. For more information regarding the Fargo Public Library and a list of upcoming Summer Reading Challenge events for all ages, call 701.241.1495 or visit fargolibrary.org.
