Hunter Education Volunteers Recognized

Volunteer instructors for North Dakota’s hunter education program were recognized Feb. 12 for their contributions of teaching students the importance of hunter safety and ethics.

Instructor of the year and years of service awards were presented at the annual hunter education workshop and awards banquet held in Bismarck.

Susan and Richard Harwood of Lemmon, S.D. and Keith Domke from Jamestown were named instructors of the year.

James Linnertz from West Fargo was honored for 35 years of service.

Watchable Wildlife Newsletter Now Online

The State Game and Fish Department has repackaged its annual Watchable Wildlife Newsletter into an electronic-only document.

The 2011 version, detailing recent Watchable Wildlife successes and project highlights, is now available online at the Game and Fish Department’s website, gf.nd.gov. View February 2011 Watchable Wildlife Newsletter (1.9Mb PDF)

Spring Turkey Applications Due Feb. 16

Applications for this spring’s turkey season must be in the mail and postmarked before midnight Feb. 16. Only North Dakota residents are eligible to apply.

Prospective hunters can submit a lottery application online, or print an application, at the Game and Fish Department’s website, gf.nd.gov. Applications can also be submitted by calling (800) 406-6409. Online or phone applications must be logged before midnight Feb. 16.

Application forms are also available at most license vendors, county auditors and Game and Fish offices.

The spring turkey season opens April 9 and continues through May 15.
