I am new to stash so terminologies like clone, pull, etc are new to me. So while looking for steps on how to download(clone) a stash repo via GIT, I came accross these instructions, so I thought I should share them.
Previously in this textbook, you learned that git is tool that is used to track changes in files (a process called version control) through a suite of commands that you can execute in the Terminal. You also learned that GitHub allows you to store files in the cloud to access them from any computer and to share them with others.
The .git subdirectory is created automatically, either by GitHub if it is created on GitHub.com or by git if the repository is created locally on a computer first (i.e. initialized as a repository). This .git subdirectory is used by these tools to manage and track the various tasks that are run on this directory (e.g. tracking changes to files in the repository). Thus, you never need to access or modify the files in the .git subdirectory.
When a repository is stored on GitHub.com, it is assigned a unique URL (i.e. link on the GitHub.com website) that can be used to find the repository and access its files. While repositories on GitHub.com can be made either public or private, the default is public for free GitHub accounts.
The username is the username of the creator (i.e. owner) of the repository. The username can either be an individual such as eastudent (or your GitHub username!), or it can represent an organization such as earthlab-education.
Using GitHub.com, you can make a copy of a GitHub repository (also known as a repo) owned by another user or organization (a task referred to as forking a repository). This means that you do not have to fork a repository that you already own. Instead, other users can fork your repository if they would like a copy to work with, and your original files will not be modified!
To work locally with a GitHub repository (including forked repos), you need to create a local copy of that repository on your computer (a task referred to as cloning a repo). You can clone GitHub repositories that you own or that are owned by others (e.g. repositories that you have forked to your GitHub account).
In either case, cloning allows you to create a local copy of a GitHub repository, so that you can work with the files locally on your computer. Cloning a repository to your computer is a great way to work on your files locally, while still having a copy of your files on the cloud on GitHub.com. Following the steps below, you will use the git clone command in the terminal to clone GitHub repositories.
The first step to using any git command is to change the current working directory to your desired directory. In the case of git clone, the current working directory needs to be where you want to download a local copy of a GitHub repository.
For this textbook, you will clone a repo into a directory called earth-analytics on your computer (or wherever you are working. This earth-analytics directory should be located in the home directory of your computer.

This video walks you through the drive cloning process using the Acronis cloning software included with Kingston SSD products. The first step is ensuring that the SSD is properly connected to the system.

The Version Tag is the version that the beta release will becomewhen it is released. You can match the Git Commit Hash up with thegit log. The mostrecent release will have the largest Version Tag and Commit Numberand will normally be at the end of the list.
OSFClone creates a forensic image of a disk, preserving any unused sectors, slack space, file fragmentation and undeleted file records from the original hard disk. Boot into OSFClone and create disk clones of FAT, NTFS and USB-connected drives! OSFClone can be booted from CD/DVD drives, or from USB flash drives.
OSFClone can create disk images in the dc3dd format. The dc3dd format is ideal for computer forensics due to its increased level of reporting for progress and errors, and ability to hash files on-the-fly.
Verify that a disk clone is identical to the source drive, by using OSFClone to compare the MD5 or SHA1 hash between the clone and the source drive. After image creation, you can choose from a range of compression options to reduce the size of the newly created image, increasing portability and saving disk space.
OSFClone does its best not to leave artifacts or alter the source evidence drive. However due to different hardware, drivers variations and disk states, there could be a small chance of contamination, especially when the source drive is from a Linux / Unix machine. When integrity is of the utmost importance, we recommend using a write blocker in conjunction with OSFClone.
To install OSFClone to a CD or DVD, you will need a CD/DVD writer and CD/DVD image writing software of your choosing. To run OSFClone, download and burn the osfclone.iso image to a CD or DVD, and choose to boot from the CD/DVD drive during system start up.
