for the mid1970's ruggers.  Pic in front of original Corby's, these derelicts where my house mates at Bay East when I was in grad school.   Does anyone know where OB, the greatest Corby's Bar Keep is, is he alive?  Take care Lads, go Irish!  cheers, bobo '74  ps-  needlessly heart thumping win over Duke, holy crap!

Hi Guys:

You early to mid 1970’ers are youngsters when compared to the ORIGINALS from 1961-1967 or thereabouts.
When one reaches his 9th decade, recollections are somewhat spotty at times.

I was at the 50th anniversary reunion in Spring 2011. Extended dinner and program and meeting with current ruggers. Excellent weekend.
At the Purdue weekend in 09/2021, the NDRFC held the 60th anniversary reunion. Dinner was smaller and NO student ruggers were invited.  HUH!
Then each succeeding year there is a mini reunion.  I missed 2022 as I was recovering from multiple organ failure eg heart, liver, kidneys.
Recovered sufficiently to attend the 62nd anniversary vs Ohio State weekend. 09/22-24/23. Alas, no dinner meeting but a Saturday tailgate.  For some of us waiting for 10 years between reunion dinners is difficult to accept.

I hope some of you remember us.

As for the Ohio State rugby match, it was mostly a hard fought match.  ND was down 10-0, came roaring back and was UP 14-13 with around 3 or so minutes to play. For some reason ND continued to stall and was penalized. Buckeyes did not convert penalty kicks initially. I was screaming from the stands “kick to touch”. No such luck. ND penalized in extended time and this time converted the penalty kick to win 16-14.
Tough loss, but some mental errors prevented ND from a huge upset.
At least the match was competitive eg unlike the 78-0 loss in Ireland to Navy, a truly disappointing result after spending around $200K several weeks earlier. YIKES!

Plse introduce yourselves when you get the chance. Future opportunities are limited due to health and age issues.
I enjoy the banter amongst all ruggers.

FYI.
At O’Hare airport in Chicago. going thru TSA checking, I was wearing my NDRFC baseball hat. A guy immediately fist bumped me from Penn State. The power of those that love RUGBY.
I am now living in Northern CA near Stanford University, all travel is challenging.
But so far my rugby memories are only enhanced when recalling those great times.

I was a bartender at Corbys and recall people yelling to come out and see something in
The street.  There was a billboard high above the bar. Turned out to be bobo on the billboard giving south bend  the  fruit ball.  
Best use of advertising I ever saw.

  As a side note,  many of you remember Jerry Bradley, a Corby's bartender, Bengal Bouter and occasional ND rugby player from the early '70s. His best friend was Duff, a Corby's regular.   According to his brother, Michael Bradley (a rugger from the mid-60's), Jerry will be back for the USC game weekend.  It will be good to see Jerry!

Greetings from San Diego, where it is so much easier to live upon beating Southern Cal.   Love seeing those smirking Trojans slinking home with a nosebleed!

I will be up and over for the Pitt game this Saturday and have a spare ticket if anyone is looking....
