Hi all,
Bob Huguelet here, ND rugger class of 2010 (not to be confused with my old man, class of 1979). I am reaching out to this thread on behalf of the Zac Plantz Foundation, a non-profit we started 3 years ago to honor the memory of our friend and teammate Zac.
Zac comes from a huge Notre Dame family. His dad played under Gerry Faust, and both his brothers were walk-ons at ND, Tyler even coaching there after graduation. Zac however forged his own path and signed up for the rugby team. He embodied the spirit of the sport - a fierce competitor on the pitch, magnanimous and fun-loving after the match. He was popular around campus, and he touched many, many people at ND and after graduation. There is a great write-up in The Athletic from when he passed.
ND Rugby is heavily represented on the board of the foundation, with myself, Chris Brown, and Don Greiwe all members (not to be confused with his old man, Don Greiwe '73). The ZPF champions education, leadership, and wellness to continue the chapters Zac left unwritten. In 2023, we donated over $50,000 to support Athletes for Hope, Movember, and scholarships to Catholic High Schools in the Chicago area. We also created a $400,000 endowment to ensure the long-term sustainability of the Foundation.
We are looking for partners to sponsor the 2nd Annual Evening for Good, a gala event this March 23rd attended by over 400 people in Chicago, and I am hoping there may be some folks on this email in a position to contribute.
Here are 3 ways to help out:
