Hello, friends!

The next meeting of the Notorious Canary-Trainers will be this coming Sunday, March 15, where we’ll be discussing the first part of The Valley of Fear. (Well, y’all will — I unfortunately will not be able to attend.) The meeting will be at the Fitchburg Library.

The Valley of Fear is the fourth and final Sherlock Holmes novel. It was first published in magazine form in 1914-1915, and it’s loosely based on the Pinkertons and Molly Maguires.

It has rarely been adapted, although there is an animated film version with Peter O’Toole voicing Holmes.

I have to say, regretfully, it's looking more and more like Mary and I will be snowed in and not able to get out to Sunday's meeting. The weather forecasts have been dire and I am expecting Sunday to be hazardous on the roadways and possbile impossible for us to get out or in to our house until snow removal takes place, whether I'm stuck doing this myself or need to wait until our service can get around to it.  We've been sort of lucky so far this winter but this late March blast could be a deal breaker. Curse that Jimmy the Groundhog for deceiving us!

If the predictions turn out to be accurate, I am unlikely to be going out in it either.

Any possibility of/interest in reverting to an online meeting for this one??

A Thought:
In reference to Jimmy's false prognostication, maybe it might be a safe move to slide our meetings forward a month. I would hate to have anything happen to any of our co-conspirators just because the weather gods are determined to curse us. The evil Valley of Death would be just as foreboding in April (come she will).

The Kenosha contingent of co-conspirators are in favor of sliding the meeting forward a month. Hmmm “sliding” good choice of words!
