Sherlocked Escape Room

Hi all,

As mentioned at our last story discussion meeting, there's an escape room just around the corner from Tempest Oyster Bar on Wilson Street that is offering a SherLOCKED Escape Room Experience:

If you've never done an escape room before, there's not a lot you need to know to have fun. There are usually puzzles to solve (physical problem-solving, searching for an object you need to open a lock or a door, hidden items behind mirrors or in writing that is difficult to spot). A few of us have done them before, and as I said, I think anybody can pick it up pretty easily—they build these escape rooms to be generally solvable by normies, not to mention Sherlockians. ;-)

The price is around $33 per person for a small group, getting cheaper per person with more participants. Would anyone be interested in playing the weekend of August 9th/10th? They also have weekday hours but that can be more difficult to schedule.

They have openings between 1pm and 8:30 PM Saturday and 1PM and 4PM Sunday.

This is certainly open to family and friends as well. The more the merrier, I think the only limit is the size of the facility (it can hold 12), with a minimum number of 6, but I bet we can easily field that many.

Please let me know if you're interested, even if you can't commit yet.

Oops, PS:  I think our preference would be for a late afternoon time, either Sat. or Sun. -- that allows for a post-escape visit to the Tempest Oyster Bar afterward!  (Which opens at 5 PM those days.)  How long do these adventures last, anyway?

I would think that would be fun (and had considered suggesting that—that's a good thought about timing). I don't think I'm up for dinner, but I'd join you for a drink and maybe have a dozen oysters, just to prevent them from overrunning the Earth.

Generally, they limit you to about an hour or an hour and 15 minutes (including instructions/orientation), and it's a hard stop—you're racing against the clock. I have seen some 90 minute ones, but those usually are more elaborate.

I'm interested in going to Escape This and am available in those timeframes. I've done an escape room at Escape in Time in west Madison and at last year's Gamehole Con.
