This month we are discussing The Adventure of Wisteria Lodge. This will be our last summer meeting, being held at Memorial United Church, 5705 Lacy Rd., Fitchburg. I am hoping everyone is getting this message. Last month I was unable to get a message out due to AI sending it to our old email address. So far this week, AI has continued to fight me, but I think my message will get out.
The Adventure of Wisteria Lodge was first published in the United States in August 1908. It was published as A Reminiscence of Mr. Sherlock Holmes, consisting of two stories: The Tiger of San Pedro and The Singular Experience of Mr. John Scott Eccles. The Strand Magazine published the story over two months: September 1908 and October 1908.
The story was first adapted into a movie in 1931 as a short, silent film. There have been numerous radio and video adaptations since then. For those of us who enjoy the Granada TV series, this adaptation is considered to largely follow the original story.
As usual, our meeting will begin at 3:00 pm and conclude by 4:30 pm. I hope to see you there.
