I hope this notice goes out to everyone. Johanna pointed out to me that the address I was using had an extra period in it. I blame it on AI for changing an address I had used for years.

This month, we will be discussing The Adventure of the Bruce-Partington Plans. This adventure was published by both The Strand Magazine and Collier's in December 1908. The story was published in 1917 as one of 8 adventures in His Last Bow.

Like most Sherlock Holmes stories, it was first made into a movie in 1908 with Eille Norwood starring as Sherlock Holmes. In 1965, it was part of a television series Sherlock Holmes. Interestingly, only 2 reels of the 16mm telerecording exist, but the entire soundtrack survives.

Lately, we have been judging a story by whether we remember the story when we hear the name. I can say that this is one I definitely remembered.

I want to do a shout-out to Johanna Draper Carlson this month. She has a story about Irene Adler appearing in cartoons in the most recent Sherlock Holmes Magazine. Apparently, this is going to be the first of a series of articles by Johanna. If you don't subscribe to this magazine, I recommend that you start a subscription. If you are interested, you simply need to go to www.sherlockholmesmag.co.uk.

Just a reminder that we are again meeting at the Fitchburg Public Library. Our meeting starts at 3:00 pm and is done by 4:30 pm. I hope to see you there.

Trainers - Cherry and I won’t make today’s meeting but just for what it’s worth…

I think of this one as The Fog Story since fog plays such an important part and is mentioned in several spots.

The latest Sherlock Holmes Magazine ( the one with Johanna’s interesting article on Irene Adler) has an article about London fogs. Braddy comments that fog appears in only nine of sixty stories, which I found surprising.

Enjoy your discussion and we hope to be with you next month.

Tom
