Two big upcoming events are dawning:
1.) Sunday, June 28th 3-4pm, the Sublibrarians are meeting and have a GREAT local speaker, Phil Cunningham—that's at the Hyatt Regency McCormick, Field AB
2.) The day before, Saturday the 27th, the Torists International S.S. will be holding its summer (Trinity) meeting (see announcement below)

As the Chief Steward said, make it a sciontific weekend. Terrific pun, btw!

Fans of Sherlock Holmes will be delighted to learn the Sub-Librarians Scion of the Baker Street Irregulars are hosting their 48th meeting at the American Library Association. The Scion welcomes researcher Philip Cunningham to talk about the famous writer, newspaperman, bibliophile, and Sherlockian: Vincent Starrett. The presentation will focus on Starrett's connections to libraries including the creation of book catalogs for Frank Morris, Walter Hill, and David Randall. Cunningham will also discuss his research in creating a detailed timeline chronicling the 31,848 days of Starrett's life and preparing an annotated edition of Born in a Bookshop, Starrett's bibliographical memoir. Philip Cunningham, a former Chief Steward of Torists (2014-2018), became interested in Vincent Starrett in 2007. He was given the investiture "Abe Slaney" in the Baker Street Irregulars in 2013.

Thank you!

Christy

Max mentions "The Untouchables" as a television series and a movie.  But it all started in 1957 as a memoir written by Eliot Ness and Oscar Fraley.  It is quite readable.  But the June lecture sounds very interesting.  Thanks for the info. -- Mark
