November 16 Meeting of the Notorious Canary Trainers

On Sunday, November 16, we will discuss The Adventure of the Dying Detective. This story was first published in the U.S. in Collier's in November 1913. The story was published the next month in Great Britain in The Strand Magazine. The story was again published four years later, along with seven other stories, as His Last Bow.

In 1921, it was released as a movie as part of the Stoli Film Series. The first television adaptation was broadcast in 1951 with Alan Wheatley as Sherlock Holmes. Unfortunately, this is one of those shows that has been lost. The Jeremy Brett version was broadcast in 1994. The first radio version of this story was broadcast in 1931, followed by many others.

At our meetings, we often discuss if this is a story that we remember just by the title. This is a story where the title definitely triggers someone's memory.
