--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dear Colleagues,

I am pleased to announce the seventh annual Graduate Student Mathematical
Modeling Camp
to be held at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, June 8-11, 2010. I have
attached a flyer for the
Camp which gives some basic information. Further details can be found at

http://www.rpi.edu/dept/math/GSMMCamp

Briefly, the Camp is a four-day problem-solving workshop for graduate
students. Invited faculty mentors will present problems to the group on
the first day, and then the participating graduate students will form
teams to work on the problems informally for the remainder of the Camp
with the aid of the mentors.

Students will give summary presentations of their work on the last day.
Also, students will be invited to attend the Mathematical Problems in
Industry (MPI) Workshop also held at RPI during the week immediately
following the Camp. The Workshop has a similar structure, but is attended
by students, post-docs and faculty, and focuses on problems brought by
representatives from industry.

Financial support is available for graduate students to attend both the
Camp and the Workshop, and I invite you to pass this information along to
interested graduate students in your department and to post the attached
flyer. The web pages provide more details and offer an online application
form. Please note that the deadline for applications is April 16, 2010,
but financial support is limited so that early applications are
encouraged.

I hope to see graduate students from your department at the Camp.

Best regards,
Don Schwendeman
Camp Organizer
