Hi everyone,
I am pleased to announce the SCJ Spring fundraiser for our National Philanthropy, the Student Press Law Center. I am hoping that each active chapter will hold some kind of local fundraising activity for SPLC. When you have finished your fundraiser you can send the money to me at the National Office. The National Council has then authorized me to match the funds you raise locally (for the first $1,000). I will accept the checks until April 29, 2011. At that time I’ll deposit the checks into the SCJ National Treasury and write one big check for SPLC. However, when I send the check out I will include the names of the chapters that have done the hard work.
Many times students ask me, “What can SCJ chapters do?” I’m hoping that this will start a tradition in our organization and students will come to look forward to working together to support a good cause. The chapters can do whatever kind of fundraiser they want and you can do it at any time before the April 29 deadline. I plan to keep a list on www.scj.us and if you want to send in a write up and pictures we’ll also feature these on the Web.
