The 2008 Northern California Symposium on Statistics and Operations Research in Sports is a meeting of academics and professionals with sports teams, sports media, and universities to present original research and discuss the pressing issues in the field of sports statistics.

The meeting will be sponsored jointly by Menlo College, The Journal of Quantitative Analysis in Sports, Statistics in Sports Section of the American Statistical Association, and INFORMS. The symposium will include traditional oral presentations, research posters and a panel discussion. The proceedings of the symposium will be published in a special issue of the Journal of Quantitative Analysis in Sports (JQAS).

ABSTRACTS FOR TALKS AND POSTERS ARE NOW REQUESTED


Please e-mail abstracts as a Word or plain text file by June 15, 2008, to bal...@menlo.edu for consideration to be on the program.

Abstract instructions:
Abstracts should be no more than 250 words, and should clearly outline the work that you would like to present. Please indicate whether you would be willing to present your work only as a talk, only as a poster, or either. Inclusion in the special issue of JQAS is at the discretion of the presenter.

Along with your abstract, please include:

- the title of the presentation

- your name

- your affiliation

- a contact e-mail address

Decisions for accepting abstracts will be made by July 1, 2008.
