Cub Scout Pack 951 committee openings ...

Dear Pack 951 families and friends:

We are nearing the end of our 2016-2017 scouting year.  In a little more than a week, we will hold our graduation campout weekend at Jordan Lake State Park, at which our scouts will received their rank advancements.  It will be the last pack-wide event we will hold this year.  

In June, our pack committee will meet to evaluate this past year's program, and begin the planning process for the 2017-2018 scouting year.

A number of our current pack committee members are leaving, and as such, we have some vacancies we would like to fill.  

We especially need one (or more) parents to serve as the popcorn fundraising coordinator(s) in the fall.  This (or these) person(s) will oversee the popcorn selling program.  It is an important endeavor, as the proceeds we receive largely cover the costs we incur to run our program during the year.  Whoever accepts this position will have plenty of support from the rest of the committee.  Michele and Marchellina, who ran the program for the past two years, will also be available for coaching.

Our committee has also discussed the benefit of having a parent serve as a "media relations" specialist.  This person would work with Beth Dodd, our website and Facebook page administrator, by providing content to these platforms, as well as issue press releases to publicize the things our pack does.

Our committee also needs a new committee chairman.  I have served in this capacity for three years, and as you know, I have no children or grandchildren in the pack.  The major things I set out to do when I took over as chairman have largely been completed.  I have begun some other volunteer initiatives that I enjoy, and so, I would like to step down as chairman in order to more fully pursue these things.  

Attached is some information about pack committee responsibilities, and a description of the pack committee chairman's duties.  If you are interested in any of the vacancies above, or if you would like to volunteer in some other capacity, please let me or any of the other pack leaders know.
