Hope u talking about testing of Web services
this include following Test activities
1. It would be a Gray box testing ( white + black box)
2. Instalation and uninstalation of web services ( follow the IQ).
3. Services should be called with in the network or out side from the network ( u can do this by virtual machin ( intra network ) and by creating creating a QA machine in other woek group  ( out side of net work)
4.White box testing u need to test the code i.e properties of the objects, parameters, and the flow of the apllication by debuging it.
5.Modules \classe \ functions are buit as per the high level design .
6. Black box : you need to verify the back end ( LOG ) file to verify that events are properly recorded,
7 any error that is occured should be recorded in the Log system
8. Log should be in human redable format.

Hope for getting any further comments :)

If you are planning to test for MAC too then there are a few additional things to be considered.

In case of win usually chunk size in which the transfer is to be done is set by the developer, but in case of MAC it is at runtime so it might cause a few bugs. Also, the way in which packets are sent through mac are slightly different than in case of win, so make sure if your app is supported on MAC, test the edge cases thoroughly.
