Hi All,

Thanks to all who attended our AGM. We look forward to another year as your CPF representatives. Herein find some important info on lookouts an criminal activity in our area. We really need more of us involved in our area so please let us know if you are able to assist in whatever ways you can.

LOOKOUTS & HIGHLIGHTS:

Vehicle lookout - this has been involved in thefts in and out of motor vehicles using jamming devices:
Metallic blue Citi Golf license BZ11ULGP
Usually with approx 3 coloured males inside.

House robberies: Also a lookout for house robberies and muggings being perpetrated by two black males that are on foot in the suburbs. Once on a property or in a house, they make use of the households own implements - knives or garden implements to intimidate & perpetrate the crimes once on that property. They are targeting Orange Grove and particularly our elderly residents. Please be aware and report any suspicious persons to the SAPS or your security company. Call your sector vehicle or if an emergency dial 10111. I have attached the vehicles numbers and suburbs to this email again. Please save in your phone and inform your family and employees. The more people we have using these numbers the better.

Theft out of and of Motor vehicles: There is also a prevalence of vehicles being stolen and broken into in Melrose Arch. Please be sure your vehicles are locked when leaving them in the parking being both underground and in the open parking areas.

Times that crimes are focused on is between early afternoon from midday to early evening.

Sector specific highlights:

Sector 1 - nothing for now except that there are some crimes occurring and as such awareness is paramount.

Sector 2 - Be aware inside the Highlands Centre as it is an easy place for criminals to disappear into. And reports of instances of crime.

Sector 3 - still the largest issue is around Grant avenue and vehicle related thefts. The main one is theft out of motor vehicles. So please do not leave valuables unattended.

Sector 4 - as above - burglaries are still the biggest problem. Sydenham appears to be the suburb being targeted. This is opportunistic crimes so we must be vigilant and inform all your neighbours and get this info out! Theft out of MV's is also still a targeted crime due to people parking on the streets.

Festive season:
Follow home robberies will be an issue going forward as there are criminals that do need to stock up for their festive breaks. Be aware when leaving malls and especially when using banks or if you wear expensive jewellery.

All the best and please get involved with us! We are your forum to combat and decrease crime within our area.

Yours,

Duncan
