Hi All,

I know this has been seen by everyone on the Facebook group, but just to officiate it, don't forget about that NICFL tournament at UC Berkeley next Saturday! Who's coming?

Best,

Thanks for sending the date out, but it would have been nice if all methods of notification had been used at the same time. I realize Sac City Fencing Club wasn't able to make the last league meeting, but I don't recall from the minutes  that there was going to be a new Facebook group for club officers. Just posting to that forum did not get the information out to all clubs in a timely manner. Our club now has less than seven days to organize for this tournament. In the future it would be helpful if old systems for communication were used to notify us of new systems of communication.

Apologies to Sac City Fencing Club, a Facebook group was talked about last meeting, and has a mention in the minutes, but the idea was that it could serve as a supplementary group. Since Officers probably check Facebook more often then they check their gmail (I assume, at least) it could be a useful method of quick communication. Unofficial watercooler talk versus official memos, if you will. Thus far UCSC, UCB, UCM, UCD and Cal Poly have representatives in this group.

The group is located here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/391959014214497/

It is private, so you have to ask to join, and presidents of their respective clubs are all administrators within this group.

Looking forward to the tournament!

Hey all,

As I recall, during discussion of this idea, this very issue was brought up as a likely consequence, to which proponents of the FB group stated "We can always post to both, it's not a big deal."

I would like to point out that the Google Group remains the *official* source for NCIFL information. Let's keep information current for everyone, please.

See you Saturday,

Thom

Hi all,

My apologies about not being clear on the situation. The fact that everyone was not on the new group did not occur to me. I hope that I have not ruined anyone's ability to compete on Saturday, if they wish to do so.

While I will surely simultaneously post information to both groups in the future, I do recommend that any schools without at least one member on the Facebook group join immediately. It is an excellent tool to get feedback and assistance on any issues without the cumbersome interface of Google Groups. Thanks to Samuel Swayze for providing more information on that below.

Best,
C.J. Miller
President of Cal Fencing
