Hey everyone,

I'm TJ Kelley, the Cal Poly Fencing Club President. I'm trying to figure out a date for my club to throw a tournament. I'm looking at reserving February 4th or February 18th. Will I be conflicting with anyone else's tournament plans? I think Berkeley usually throws a tournament in that time period, so if they want a certain weekend to throw their tournament I won't interfere.

Hi TJ,
We were initially planning on hosting our tournament on the 25th but I was informed that it conflicts with national quals so we are currently planning to host on the 18th. If the 18th is the only date that works for you I can try to find another date so that your club can host a tournament. Let me know.

Hey Masaki,

Thanks for letting me know, I'm going to see what I can do about getting the gym for February 4th.

All,

Sorry for the slow reply, we were waiting for the start of the quarter to see what sort of situation we would have.  If we had our druthers the tournament would be the 11th or the 18th instead of the 4th.  I know it may be a little late in the game to change this up but it would be much easier for us (due to new novices and time to deal with hotels and the such) and would conflict less with other events.

Though if this is happening just say the word, we need to get our paperwork in by next Friday so that we can go.

Unfortunately we will be holding a bay cup tournament on the 12th and we had moved our date to the 18th for our ncifl tournament. I can see if its possible to find a date that works in march but its a bit of a crunch.

Hey,

You don't have to worry about us throwing a tournament on the 4th since our adviser doesn't approve of it either. I can't do the 11th. The possibly for a Cal Poly tournament has been shifted to next quarter unfortunately. What dates for a Cal Poly Tournament will work around the Davis tournament? Our coach was thinking that May might work in the schedule. The only issue would be giving out the cup, but I would recommend that Davis still does it since the Davis tournament will probably happen and my attempts don't seem to fall though.

On a separate topic, our coach has also asked if he can get a copy of the bylaws for the NCIFL. Do you think you could help us with that Justin?

Dear all,

There is, in fact, an issue with the current bylaws.  They're lost.

I had a fairly castastrophic drive failure last June--no I wasn't backed up, let this be a lesson to you all--and I have been recovering ever since.  Eric MacDonald sent me a fairly dated copy of the bylaws, but the League has acted on much since them, and I have been slowly reconstructing them from notes, minutes and emails.

So, if anyone has a copy of the most recent bylaws, it would be just freaking AWESOME if they could send it directly to me.  I will include the additions and discussion of the most recent minutes (spring '11).

Sincerely,

Thom
