This never-before-seen continuously buildable, clump-resistant formula gives you customisable gravity-defying volume from natural to next-level, along with instant lash lift and length. Mirror your unique mood and reflect your individuality with the Superstack mega brush, which delivers instant volume at first swipe and is ideal for longer or upper lashes. Magnify your eyes and enlarge your lashes with this major mascara must-have!

Offering continuous, buildable volume, MAC presents the Stack Mascara, a breakthrough formula that resists clumping, flaking and smudging, layer after layer. Create customisable definition, levelling up your look from soft and natural, to bold and dramatic.

The bespoke mega brush coats lashes from root to tip with 360-degree coverage, while proprietary Fibre Melt Technology helps to create a smudge-proof finish. With a weightless feel and up to 24-hour wear, the gravity-defying mascara creates the illusion of instant lift and length.

Who doesn't want that? I needed to get my hands on the two black tubes, and once I did, I immediately noticed the unique, pearl shape of each bristle. There are subtle differences between the two mascaras, especially when it comes to the applicator size.

Superstack Mega Brush, which has pink bristles, has a large, thick spoolie that worked great on lengthening my upper lashes. On the other hand, the Superstack Micro Brush coated the shorter lashes on my bottom lash line as well as the inner corners of my eye. I found it did this with a clump-free, controllable application.

I tested this mascara out recently. Even with my oily eyelids, plus a day spent commuting to and from the office (with a face mask on), I saw no flakes or markings around my eyes. That's an extremely rare quality for mascara, and it makes me a fan of this formula.

Cosmetic chemist Ginger King credits silica and clay mineral kaolin for keeping the smudginess at bay. These two ingredients assist with oil absorption, decreasing the chances of the mascara smearing on one's eyelids. As far as the stackable fibers go, King says "the copolymers help with the adhesion of the product to the lashes." Thus, creating a stable building ground for long, flake-free, fluttery lashes.

For me, swapping between the Mega and Micro Mascara gives me the ability to add definition at my roots. It gives lots of volume all the way to the end of my lashes without creating a mess around my eyelids. But don't just take my word for it. I've asked two Allure editors to also give their first impressions, ahead.

Overall, we appreciate that MAC took into consideration that not every eye shape or lash length is the same, and gave us shoppers two unique wands to choose from. The only hard part is deciding which one to buy: Mega, Micro, or both.

To further emphasize the customizable aspect of the mascara, MAC launched two different brushes with the same formula. The MACStack Mega Mascara brush has longer bristles made for longer lashes, while the MACStack Micro Mascara brush is better suited for shorter or lower lashes. Both brushes are made of a flexible plastic to grab and separate each and every lash.

When MAC's MACStack Mascara first came out in 2022, it caused a furore with beauty fans, with some labelling it the best mascara they'd ever used. As its name suggests, the unique element of this formula is that it lets you continue to 'stack' your mascara layers to achieve the look you want, but without the usual clumping.

Since its launch, the product has racked up an incredible 18,150 reviews on the MAC website, with an overall rating of 4.5/5. Trust me: as a beauty editor, I know just how hard it is to get this many people to agree on a mascara's greatness.

With it being Black Friday today, the mascara has also gone on sale which has delighted me no end. As my current favourite mascara I will be buying a couple to keep me going through the party season and into 2024.

MAC is rightly very proud of its innovation with this mascara, which took them two years in research and development. The mascara uses Fibre Melt Technology, along with a Lash Flex Polymer to achieve its results, making it unlike any of the brand's other foray's into mascara (of which there have been many).

The brush is also a selling point: it's made of flexible plastic with tiny bristles, which means it can bend and reach every lash, no matter how small. If modern, synthetic wands are your thing, this will be right up your street.

I'll be honest: I was sort of loathe to like this because I can sometimes get caught up in the hype and follow the crowd when it comes to viral products. However, this mascara really is a beauty product I am proud to stand behind. It's such a good mascara, providing both length and volume, with a glossy and dramatic finish.

The aim of the game with this is layering, which is easily done without fear of ruining your eye look. It can create drama with a few simple flick of the mascara wand. I don't lean into this benefit as much as others may, because I'm more of a natural mascara girl. However, it works beautifully for that too.

As a beauty editor, I always say that the two makeup products that are notoriously hard to recommend are foundation and mascara. Both are really personal to the user's skin type, desired finish or lash shape/line. But I'm yet to meet anyone who dislikes this mascara, which speaks volumes (pardon the pun).

In a world where the best mascara technology is already pretty advanced, you have to hand it to MAC for seemingly breaking the mold here. As well as its USP promising infinite buildability, the MACStack formula is available with two differently shaped brush heads to cater to different tastes.

So how well does it fare? We've come to expect big things from one of the biggest makeup brands in the world, so our contributing beauty editor put both editions of the buildable formula through application and wear tests to report back on just how well it performs. Here's her in-depth analysis...

Brown mascara is nothing new. In fact, it has floated around make-up circles for an incredibly long time, with many praising its underrated ability to make lashes look longer and fuller while appearing slightly more natural than jet black.

However, it probably goes without saying that the more layers you apply, the more spidery your lashes will look. So, two-to-three was my personal sweet spot for a natural-looking fanned-out effect that kept all of the grand claims mentioned above.

Looking and feeling like tiny, spikey claws, the bristles of this brush do feel rather sharp, scraping the product right through the lashes to completely coat them in the formula but without making them feel heavy.

The MAC Macstack Mascara Superstack Micro Brush continuously buildable mascara that stacks on infinite layers of volume and length, with a smaller brush that delivers ultra-precise application and is ideal for shorter or lower lashes.

The MACStack mascara builds up the lashes with an instant lift and boosts volume. It is free from clumping, flaking, and smudging for a precise and flawless finish. Layer this mascara to your heart's content with buildable volume and length.

The Micro Brush is precise and easy to use, ideal for short or lower lashes.
