Hi guys, I didn't realize that I was causing a whole thread of action in
here! :)

FWIW, I post to this newsgroup along with others for various reasons. I
probably met a good number of people in the YSIG in the last 3+ years, and
I still like to think that I have *some* connection to it... I generally
post my announcements for the public events I organize, fundraising events
I chair and other administrative tasks to a few newsgroups.

Why? Like others have mentioned in the thread, not everyone reads
ncf.announce or ncf.general. Also, I know that if I post to
ncf.ca.seniors I'll be hitting a "specific group" of people that likely
won't read ncf.sigs.rpg.mud for example. :) Same goes for ncf.sigs.youth
- a good number of people read this newsgroup, and who knows, maybe they
don't read ncf.announce either!

My roots as a volunteer is in fundraising, so if my post to ncf.sigs.youth
gets us a donation or two, NCF is better off for EVERYONE. As a
coordinator of various things or as a member of the Board of Directors
(I'll soon be announcing the AGM) I theoretically could post to every
newsgroup, but that would be stupid (and a breach of netiquette "rules")
so I post to a number of newsgroups where I'll be getting the largest
cross-section of NCF members.

For NCF-related things that are directly for ALL MEMBERS of NCF, my posts
are not deemed as spam.

NCF should be fun for everybody, so let's make sure that we still have an
NCF tomorrow! ;)

Mike

PS: For all of you I haven't heard from in ages - write some time!!!!!
