Well its time once again for one of my infrequent postings on the y-sig.
Now what could possible draw me out into the open once again...
The overwhelming amount of posts regarding Paul, The Paul hating virus and
related topics.
No wbeing an outsider who hasn't been involved with this at all, I
hope that my fresh outlook can fly in and save the day or at least have a
little fun. Now where to begin...
Open minded vs close Minded
In your numerous posts in your defence Paul I have watch as you
have shot down all attacks with the retort "they are all lies". If you are
as open minded as you claim to be (understand that for the sake of
neutrality I cannot assume that you are) , then would it not be more
appropriate instead of trying to simply dismiss all theses rumours about
you, to try and understand what makes them start thinking that.
Now admittedly your sublimal meesage theory is plausible but lets
admit it unlikely. at least in the area of being the sole reason for this
"situation". It seems more likely (assuming youa re innocent) that
several people have had dealings with you that were misinterpretted or
where toes were stepped on with out being noticed and that from that
developed into something more.
Sublimal messages on another level
It should be noted that once soemone does have a negative image of
you in their minds it becomes more difficult to defend yourself. Although
intial reactions to discovering this are most often the need to
confront the situation with a greta deal of power. If not handled properly
this leads to feelings that you are being aggresive or worse.
Generalisation... Bane of all mankind
IN most of your posts and admittedly the psots aginst you. Genral
comments are made about and I have seen little to do with actuall
individual incidents or rumours. Responding to general attacks with general
replies is dangerous as the subject is not affixed to speficis and
therefore open to much more interpretation and/or "twisting"
Posting theories or defensive messages that dont have specifiacs in them
are jusrt as dangerous. The lesson here: Dealing with specifics leaves
much less room for twisting and a greater understanding of the actual
events that lead up to situations like this.
Virus busting (hey why not)
IF I were going out to disable a virus of this nature (assuming
there is one) It would seem to me that a brute froce attakc (posting a
warning) would be ineffective and if anything else increase the strength
of the virus in already infected areas. Remember the virus is centered on
you. Therefore instead of attacking the virus it might be sinmpler to make
changeswith yourself or perform actions that make the virus unable to
live or maintain itself. Hard for me to give specific suggecsion as i
dont knwo the specifics.
A final note
people dont usuall just start speading lies and hating people without
reason (not necessarily good ones i'll admiot) Understangin the almost
guaranteedd misunderstandings that began all this woudl be very helpful in
ceasing its existence.
hmmm... admittedly a bti of rambling and nto well assembled but i think
tthat should have covered enough for now... I apologize for all the
spelling errors but Hey... such is life.
Hope this has been helpful or at least amusing,
RoN...

The rumors started 18 months ago when somebody "befriended" me, then
started wanting me to do things like break into NCF accounts. I refused,
on moral principles(not letting on that I didn't know how, anyways!).
She started the rumors.
Everyone else: I have no idea what makes them tick. Some people hear a good
rumor and they have to pass it on I guess. Others seem to actually be
convinced they're true, somehow, even though they are blatant lies.

Well, I didn't step on any toes (or stare at anyone) at the GT, but right
after the GT someone concocted the "staring" rumor and started spreading
it... now Ian, Greg, and Michelle, aswell as Dawn all believe it and are
activelyspreading it further. Can you explain this?

The only specific incidents here, are incidents ofpeople brainwashing
my friends in IRC channels or spreading lies. I have never perpetrated any
kind of "incident" except defensive actions to try and stem the tide of
lies and hate.
[Make changes in myself]
What changes? I behave as close to perfect as I can manage. I am friendly
to every human being until they repeatedly do something to show they are
not worthy of myfriendship (i.e. spreading rumors). I don't do anything of
the sort rumored about! I try to be friendly and easygoing. If I have any
serious flaw it's that I'm too nice to people that are nice to me, and
this seems to get some people just itching to drag me down into mudslinging
for some reason. (Remember what happened to Kathie Lee? Someone labeled
her a 'goody two shoes' and created an elaborate scheme to try to lower her
to his level!)

I don't even do things that seem likely to lead to misunderstandings.
Unless refusing to hack an NCF account on someone's say-so, or giving a
pretty lady a sincere compliment, is likely to lead to misunderstandings.

I'd just like to mention at this point that Dawn's message was composed
without her ever reading IAN's message, nor ANY OTHER POST IN YSIG
REGARDING PAUL! In fact, as far as I know, she had never read anything
about Paul on NCF or any other place, and had never carried on
conversations about Paul with anyone prior to meeting him at the GT. Sorry
Paul, your subliminal messages just don't fly this time. That appears to
be Dawn's actual opinion of you after having met you. Truth sucks eh?
Sorry for speaking on her behalf, but some people just don't have any
interest in reading YSIG, no matter what the event.
