Ok, I don't usually watch Ellen, but tonight I did and I had to vent...

You see, she had this potential fling thing with an ex-boyfriend and got
confused because it didn't fit into her being lesbian. Fine. So she
went to talk to her gay friend, who told her, "Well, some people are
straight, some people are gay..." <I held my breath> "and some people
change around sometimes." Or something like that. So much for
political progress. <scowl>

Brika. :)

And some people (TV Executives mostly) should cancel Ellen for one simple
reason. IT'S NOT FUNNY ANYMORE!!!! It's like the last few seasons of
Roseanne. WAY TOO SERIOUS!!!! Hell, I think getting rid of Arie Gross
was the worst thing they could do since he was damned funny. In fact, I
only really liked the show when it was called "These Friends Of Mine".

But ABC can't cancel the damned thing because they'll be called homophobic
if they do. I hate that about the media. If you make a show (or a movie
like Crash) that's really boring and poorly made, but controversial, then
the powers that be really HAVE to air it because they'll get protested by
a bunch of radicals if they don't!!!

Of course, since I don't watch Ellen anymore, I guess she's not really
infringing on my rights as a TV viewer. So what am I complaining about?

As a TV viewer, you expect to have the right to access pertinent
information.

Well, if they cancel Ellen, they could put shows on that might
have an inspiring and meaningful socio-political message in it, and it
will move the north american populace to stand up and throw down tyranny
and evil.
Or they could put Married With Children on.
Being television execs, and with Ellen being in a comedy
timeslot...
Let's just play the odds and leave Ellen there for a while.

I don't give a shit about some meaningful socio=political message. And I
don't care either way if she's a lesbian. The show just ain't funny.
Unfunny shows are usually cancelled when their ratings suck. But because
of all the hype they can't cancel Ellen, even though her ratings suck!
