III. The corruption of the Pali and the Agama in regard
to first section.

From the answer of Gautama, we see that thoughts are under the influence
of our
state of conciousness. When we change our state of consciousness,
thoughts
change. I think this question of Po.t.thapa-da :

" 20.-- ' Now is it, Sir, the idea, the state of consciousness, that
arises first, and
then knowledge; or does knowledge arise first, and then the idea, the
state of
consciousness; or do both arise simultaneously, neither of them before
or after
the other ?' -- " ( Rhys Davids )

dealt with this.

The question might be : Now is it sir, the state of conciousness, that
arises first,
and then thoughts; or does thoughts arise first, and then the state of
consciousness; or do both arise simultaneously, neither of them before
or after
the other ?'etc...
I omit the idea in the sentence.

I think the paragraph can be changed from this one :

20. 'Lord, does perception arise before knowledge, or knowledge arise
before
perception, or do both arise simultaneously?' 'Perception arises first,
Po.t.thapa-da, then knowledge, and from the arising of perception comes
the
arising of knowledge. And one knows: "Thus conditioned, knowledge
arises." In
this way you can see how perception arises first, and then knowledge,
and that
from the arising of perception comes the arising of knowledge.'213
( Maurice Walshe )

to this :

20. 'Lord, does state of consiousness arise before thoughts, or thoughts
arise
before state of conciousness, or do both arise simultaneously?'
'State of conciousness arises first, Po.t.thapa-da, then thoughts, and
from the
arising of state of conciousness comes the arising of thoughts. And one
knows:
"Thus conditioned, thoughts arises." In this way you can see how state
of
conciousness arises first, and then thoughts, and that from the arising
of state of
conciousness comes the arising of thoughts.'213

In that way, the logic is continuous , and I see it fit with our
experience, IMO.

I distinguish 3 parts, and it's written in digha agama 28 (01).
The whole sutta is in digha agama 28 (02). Try deja news.
I can send you the traduction of this sutta of Maurice Walshe, and of
Rhys Davids, but I don't know if it's allowed. It is copyrighted.

Hi, well if it is not allowed, you should not do it. Because English is not
my native tongue, I could not find the word "traduction" in my dictionary,
please explain? Caute. C.C.

A false friend, as they used to say in French class (and probably still
do). The English verb 'traduce' has obvious connections with 'trahir'
(betray), but the French verb 'traduire' doesn't share any obvious
meanings with 'traduce'.

Pedantically yours,
