One day he wrote a letter, in it was written :
" Shih T'ou is a real gold shop. Giang Ta^y is bazaar shop. Big monk
brother,
what for to stay there to destroy your roots ? Beg you, 10,000 and
10,000 times to
come here quickly. "
After receiving the letter, Yun Yen was desperate. One day, when he was
in
service with the great master ( Pai Cheng ), at midnight, the great
master said :
- Let have a rest.
Yen did not go. The great master said :
- What's the problem ? You are all upset. Look like you have something
in your
heart, if you have, just speak out.
Yun Yen said :
- I have no problem.
The great master said :
- Is it not that you receive a letter from Tri' Gia` Le ^ ? (1)
Nham said :
- Yes.
The great master asked to see the letter. Nham gave the letter. After
reading the
letter, the great master said :
- That's what the saying " Parent give me birth, ( but ) friends help me
accomplish. " is all about. You do not have anything here to do, go
there quickly.

Yen said :
- I dare not.
Pai Cheng said :
- I write a letter, and also something for proof, to send to Yueh Shan
the great.
Bring the letter there, quick.

dharma. Tri'
is Chih. Tao Wu was called Tao Wu Yuan Chih.
