Tsu T'ang Chi (131)

They lived at Pai Cheng. After one year, Tao Wu took leave of Pai Cheng
then
went to Yueh Shan (1). Yueh Shan said :
- How to speak nha^'t cu' tu+? ( one saying word ) ?
Wu said :
- There is someone who never speak.
The great master said :
- The big and the small collections of suttas, where do they come from ?
Wu said :
- From the side ( rib ).
The great master ( Yueh Shan ) admired. Wu since had interest in
praticing zen.
Later he wished to meet his big monk brother.

(1) Yueh Shan and Pai Cheng called each other big brother. Was Yueh Shan
the
big brother whom Pai Cheng recommanded to Tao Yu when the later asked to
be
monk ?
