They sat quietly together. Tao Wu stood up then ceremoniously said :
- I have something I like to ask you long while ago, but the
circumstance then
was not right. Now, it's time, I like to ask you my big monk brother,
would you
mind ?
Yen said :
- What is the problem ?
Wu asked :
- If ( we ) leave that delusion world, where could I meet you my big
brother monk
?
Yen said :
- At the sphere of not-born, not-dead.
Wu said :
- Don't think that there is no one in the grasses, grasses have their
own guardian.
Yen said :
- You must still have that kind of ordinary people 's thinking.
Wu said :
- Big monk brother, don't tell that. Buddhism dharmas are not owned by
monk or
not monk.
Yen said :
- What's the heck with you, little monk brother. What will you say to
suit ?
Wu said :
- Not in the sphere of not-born, not-dead, also there is no need to meet
again. (1)
Later Yun Yen Nham said :
- All right. You have such deep view. Come back to the mountain, we
could help
each other on the way of emancipation.

Notes
(1) Original text :
Phi : Not
ba^'t sinh ba^'t die^.t xu+' ,: the sphere of non born non dead,
die^.c : also
ba^'t ca^`u tu+o+ng kie^'n : do not wish to see again.
There is nothing specially different between the saying of Tao Wu and
that of
Yun Yen if we understand Tao Wu 's statement as : If not in the sphere
of not
born not-dead, we won't meet again. His statement is stronger, but the
meaning is
the same.
But if his statement is :
We won't meet in the samsara,
We won't meet in the non samsara ( not-born not-dead sphere )
and we don't need to meet again.
It shows his achievement few people can have.
