To date, I have read the comments of all who have posted on the
men's and women's sig and thank all the contributor's insights to
this topic.
I would have no great difficulty with the following wording :
To Honour and to Grieve
All Women
Abused and Murdered
Envision a world without violence
Where all are Respected
&
Free
but would prefer:
To Honour and to Grieve
All Peoples
Abused and Murdered.
Envision a world without violence
Where all are Respected
&
Free
because, as Candace points out, only one statue would be needed,
thus saving a great deal of space while maintaining the true intent
of anti-violence.
Being probably one of the youngest veterans of world war 2, I would
certainly oppose the removal of cenotaphs since many of us visit
them to remember those who gave their lives so that we still have
the power to speak our mind and live in relative peace. Moreover I
speak from experience when I say that most ex frontline vets hate
violence with a passion.
I will not be posting an update until I have examined our position
with my dear friend and lawyer. Feasibility in changing or removing
the statue is the highest priority to ensure that further steps are
not just a waste of time.
Thanks again to all,
Aub
